DEC 13th yipee boat all back together & working in x to scoop up MIKE&LYNNE!Off we go to Caja De Muertos(box of the dead)
great 6hr sail,but no fish! Mike& N always looking for new food decided to pry off chitons from rocks. ok happy hr w/sauteed
chitons 1 x was plenty. We need fish. Dinghy to other side to snorkel/fish-cool lobster- N,M,L,&I chase this thing forever,all yelling
underwater at ea other & salivating in our snorkels.. smart lobster he got away while we were blaming HA. Sail to Cayo Caribe
boys off for THE FISH..the fish turned out to be only appetizers!but we did drink caiparinas. dropped M&L of in Salinas. On to
Pattillas,Palmas del Mar(nice 6am send off w/manatees) to Cayo Santiago(monkey Island).You cant go ashore there so we sat
on deck all afternoon watchin the monkeys very cool.& a bit noisy!On to Cayo Obispo..beer run,pick up alternator part(don't
ask),& rack of lamb for xmas dinner. Toolin into marina tons of BIG IGUANA hangin on wall& trees/ fine but those nails could
really puncture a dinghy!Gorgeous LUIS DE PENA,we're the only boats there perfect. Nice HIKE around the rocky shore of
island on xmas am.Later my very own santa complete W/HAT made a wonderful DINNER which we enjoyed w/ R&B from
Umiak. hey we even dug out real glass!26th huge yacht slips in hey maybe we get to board, we did talk to the crew after they
delivered 2 women to shore who had white gloves on! go figure??Culebra here we come,nice bay great RAINBOW fantastic
Flamenco beach great body surfin If you like water & sand in all orifices. So we are anchored, a cool 140 ft vintage yacht anchors
in called Blue Guitar hey its Eric Claptons!! shop owners say yea it is its here a lot but he isnt! so I cruise on by in my kayak well
let me tell ya cant see a thing from where I sat ..NY eve Dewey Culebra these people party w/ band & families set up tables &
chairs. Fun!
BLOOD!.....N has been know to wipe out on the transom of the boat!so off to a romantic dinner alone his feet go flying he lands
hard on the step which has huge metal pieces to hold swim ladder, woa "I think I hurt myself this x"as his fingers disappear into
the back of his leg.he turns sheet white & says get me a banana Im feeling funny DAH!get some butterflies it should be fine."NO
way it needs more than that I say. once he sees the mirror & R comes over & says just what I did he agrees. off we go sit N on a
chair in bar walk to fire station explain we need a ride to clinic.. so on the table the doc is goin ewww! the ambulance driver
whips out his cell phone & takes pics of the HOLE in N's leg plus some guy off the st says hey I heard at the dinghy doc let me
see he too takes pics w/ his cell N says only 5 bucks a pic! a bottle or iodine & 11 STAPLES later we lv.
Dale & Steve fly in to Dewey .steve is cool asap & buys crocs so he now looks like the rest of Culebra.Sailed to mangalar bay.
rays wiz by as Im kayaking,boys go out for the hunt CONCH yum.off to Culebrita N finds a SLIPPER lobster.we head for the
Jacuzzi(huge waves zip in & out) in Tortuga bay, big rocks to climg on beautiful. R yells down to us hang on cuz he sees a good
one coming we yell to dale a few ft below us. after big wave..hey where is DALE??? he was thrown 10feet or more body skipping
down the rocks.look for his legs only in pic. man he was a bloody mess but oh SO lucky. R our photo man made poor Dale stop
for a photo as he was trying to climb up & back to dinghy,boys!!!! All hiked to neat old LIGHTHOUSE the next day great view.Dale
learned to polish stainless (yea) Steve ejoyed his mags & naps.With boys all patched up we sailed to Vieques,Salinas de Sur
an old miliary testing site for bombs!!! they say if you go ashore dont go far off the shore OR pick anything up YEA RIGHT! we
didnt go ashore. On to Sun bay Dale finds his crocs & a dolphin cruises by to say ciao to S&D as we head for town to get them a
taxi.Jan 24th heading for ST Thomas looking for wind /fish & sun we stored up on rum already!K&N

Tues Dec 7 2:30am anchor up we are on our way 4 months after our "quick' stop in La Parguera.. nice starry night wind on the nose so no sailing but it sure
feels good to be out. 6:05am N."the ENGINE SOUNDS FUNNY!! the Engine sounds funny!" oil pressure down.. running hot CRAP shut it down! check
oil/belts/filters humm, all ok. meanwhile I'm looking in books to see what we could of missed. ok lets call R&B (Umiak) so they know we are havin trouble
...Radio not transmitting!! anything else??so here we are ROCKING& ROLLING in big waves N standing on his head for 3 hrs in the engine room(while I'm
up& down trying to help but feelin a bit GREEN) boat filled w/ fumes! ok changed an impeller,the 3 hrs were cuz it took 3 tries to find the stupid impeller& that
was looking at a diagram!) should be fine now. start her up. CRAP now what? tons of smoke flyin into the attitude& I hear water!/exhaust is melted w/huge
hole(which means water pours into the boat) SO we open hatches(which is ok its nice out/crap big old cloud YEP its raining) turn on bilge pump(this dumps
out the water)& head for Gillians Island 5 mi away..Robert & Beate(Umiak) leading the way(they had turned to come back& find us).. Well we got 11 mi. from
La Paguera! N& R worked on radio& muffler for a few hrs tearing up the whole boat. called the company ordered a part NOW we wait. nice family from Akron
OH(world way to sm)in a cat near us /got my kid fix I was adopted to be there gma so Ann Marie 7,Brian 5 & I head out ea am to Kayak. One am I was out very
early & was lucky enough to be kayakin w/ 2 manatees!! Sun 12th N& R head out in the Dingy to find fish..hrs later the hunters return. NOT BAD 3 big
lobsters(N particularly liked one of the them as you can tell/Not sure if R&B will continue to sail w/ us HA!) ok we can live w/ our little detour Sun/beautiful
bay/friends & LOBSTER . (Lobster2 Pic)Fingers crossed for our part to arrive manana.Friends from Ny will be here manana also "to sail" for a few days.SO
we can always put up some canvas on the dinghy right??

yippee!! hurricane season is ending POR FIN (at last). So we have been stayin busy. You all know the saying a boat is just a hole in
the water that you poor $$ into? well its a big one let me tell ya. Neil is a reg boat mechanic now, our BATTERIES were shot so he had
to install new ones not easy as you can see. hey I just think of it as stomach crunches plus he can now hang upside down! this is an
adult audience right???We have been playin tourist visited OLD SAN JUAN FORT ( on way to shop & airport). Cari (daughter) & Dion
(boyfriend ) came down (C&D PICS)so we did the host thing snorkeled fished sailed & FLOATed. Neil is learning to use the SEXTON
our friend Robert(Umiak) is showing him how. While he learns stars/sun& weather such as the fantastic WATER SPOUT,only
fantastic cuz it was close enough for a pic but not to bother us! I use my get away car & paddle off in my KAYAK. I left for NY marathon
had a great time did time in Fl w parents,daughter & grandson but man couldnt wait to get back. back on attitude alternator out N fixed
it!! we now have power again the plan is to finally head out Dec 5th.So more fun& sailing adventures to come... everyone have a great

office free net/rest./bar/groceries & video rent ha!HUM a storm on its way w/ a name already CHARLEY not good!! Aug 4 7am take off jib sail & any other things on the deck that may fly!! get in
dinghy explore for a good hurricane hole . this is a good place full of mangroves to hide.Robert,Beate N & I toolin around w/ a lead line to checkout depths what is that boat? its heading for us
police? ok ok whats up we are behavin! even found a huge dead puffer. mr macho cop "do you have a fire ex?"NO/do you have a reg for this NO do you have 4 l.jackets NO.(ok that we should
have done we did have 2)I guess 4 gringo's looked like fun.. oh we are so lucky he will let us go back to our boat but will check out this stuff in 20 mins wow we are worried ha.. ok our brush w/

of boat we wont try to grab old yellow dingy lines. cool bean is on her way drive 3 hrs to San Juan but we took the scenic way 7 hrs!! back to boat on to monkey island, girls in one Dink bozs in
other chicks are getting soaked I look like stevie wonder cuz I hate water in my face/ waves are pouring over beans head(she is up front)/ Beate is trying to bail (which we figured we should do
when we saw the dry bag float by us!!)we cant get the plug out(to plane to get rid of water) & now we are laughin so hard I'm afraid Beate will be bailin my pee soon!we finally get to the bozs they
are calm cool & bone f'in dry!!! ok I may need to lean a bit more about dinghy drivin! cool mangrove tunnels but no monkeys today.. I'm getting the hang of steerin in the tunnel well w/ bean &

Enough of the harbor life lets have some clean water!! ok out of Luperon we tried at 7pm but we rocked & rolled all over plus the 12kt wind was now 18 sooo although mr thought it was
way cool we headed back in to wait till the winds calmed. 3am we haul anchor. made it to Sosua for breakfast clean beautiful harbor great beach & quiet UNTIIL 4 "party"boats anchor in
front of us, jet skis start to buzz by. oh well mr got to swim to the party boat w/ a slide. He was also jumping off the bow.
took off out of there about 9pm off to El Valle 18hr sail. YEA just as we are pulling in to anchor N gets a fish ok nice but its only an appetizer as he puts the hook away he says we need
another one zip goes the 2nd line 2 Spanish mackerels!! here we had our "official visit" 3 guys fisherman,army guy & who knows what the other is (this sounds like a joke huH) well
what are we doing here how long blah blah blah. ok 3 beers/1 fishing lure /popcorn & 100 pesos later we are cool to stay for the wind window. plus now we are to come to shore for
dinner at there restaurant!N Robert& Beate need to sleep gma has mr duty so.. mr & I want to swim to shore its a lot father then we/I thought but hey we snorkel all the way(about 1/4
mile!)but when we get there I see Beate on our boat & N is up HUM.. we find out later we had a choche(collision) they were yell'in for N & he was sleeping heard NOTHING B had to
climb on our boat to push it off !!!no damage! ok everyone is rested we are out of here!
July 16 3am head for Samana!N gets a tuna as we are entering the bay YEA sashimi tonight!!yum . mr jumps in 1st thing saw some starfish! oh no "official visit time" this time it is 50
pesos & we had to move the boat to he main harbor I knew I should have made popcorn! N&R go in to do the official paperwork. hook up w/Ricardo guess what we are going on a tour!
ICK we dont "do" tours.. meet 9am ride a motor concho to the market open dirty loud market but hey great people watching,, looking for a ride to the waterfall Ricardo will do it! but as
soon as the guys see its for tourist man price goes up a ton. finally we say we dont care how we get there. so off we go on the back of a pickup w/the locals 10 or so jammed in fun& a
fantastic way to see the land!! we hike to falls mr rides a horse it is beautiful mr even cliff dives in! eat a bad! lunch there pay & figure our we need a CHEAP way back even if we add all
our pesos together. ok pickup here we come.
times running our need to get mr back to U.S so we rent a car w/no air! drive 3hrs to airport..1)i left the letter for mr to travel w/us on boat & don't ya know the U.S never asked for it here
they did. ok how much is it going to cost(this is an important phrase to know in Spanish) a mere 850 pesos & I have a stamped paper so mr can go home!cool he lvs we head back stop
at a cool little place called moby dick (really) German guy has had it for a month, good food. crap its getting dark & hey the car wont start!! well ya know how mechanical N &I are we
couldn't figure out how to open the f'in hood!here we are night 3 German guys jabbering away looking all over the car .but hey got it open. & even figured out it was the battery NO water
they filled it jumped it w/ a wire & off we went made it back to Samana handed it back to the guy he turned it off to let us out & guess what wouldn't start!
good weather window(24th) we are off to Punta Macao.. 12hrs sail in at 7:30am wow cliffs beautiful empty beach water clear..but wait I swear I thought it was a club med add.100 people
on the beach all of a sudden dune buggys/ATV's & even horses running all over but wait.. we have helicopters,speedbaots& LOUD music.thank god it rained so it got quiet by 7 or so. we
slept & left there at 10pm..14hr sail to mona island...very calm "almost all the way tons of dolphins greeted us as the wind picked up to 30 knots man im glad we were on our way
in!anchored had happy hr invited Bruce VanSant & Rosa(author of our cruise book N calls his bible)they left samana same time & are here at Mona w/us It has hiking trails so a hiking
we will go NOT!! a US tourist is lost here he has been gone 3days so we are not allowed to do much just one trail leads to beach & back around. figures an American would mess it up!
saw a few cool caves& nice beach. snorkeled around the boat & watched an octopus doing his camouflage thing way cool.. N of course had to harass it so we could see all the ink! so
like always we are having an adventure & loving it... Can you believe its 6 months on water N hasnt"accidentally " fallen off the boat boy I love my rum HA!!! Next stop coast of P.Rico!!

mile!)but when we get there I see Beate on our boat & N is up HUM.. we find out later we had a choche(collision) they were yell'in for N & he was sleeping heard NOTHING B had to
climb on our boat to push it off !!!no damage! ok everyone is rested we are out of here!
July 16 3am head for Samana!N gets a tuna as we are entering the bay YEA sashimi tonight!!yum . mr jumps in 1st thing saw some starfish! oh no "official visit time" this time it is 50
pesos & we had to move the boat to he main harbor I knew I should have made popcorn! N&R go in to do the official paperwork. hook up w/Ricardo guess what we are going on a tour!
ICK we dont "do" tours.. meet 9am ride a motor concho to the market open dirty loud market but hey great people watching,, looking for a ride to the waterfall Ricardo will do it! but as
soon as the guys see its for tourist man price goes up a ton. finally we say we dont care how we get there. so off we go on the back of a pickup w/the locals 10 or so jammed in fun& a
fantastic way to see the land!! we hike to falls mr rides a horse it is beautiful mr even cliff dives in! eat a bad! lunch there pay & figure our we need a CHEAP way back even if we add all
our pesos together. ok pickup here we come.

good weather window(24th) we are off to Punta Macao.. 12hrs sail in at 7:30am wow cliffs beautiful empty beach water clear..but wait I swear I thought it was a club med add.100 people
on the beach all of a sudden dune buggys/ATV's & even horses running all over but wait.. we have helicopters,speedbaots& LOUD music.thank god it rained so it got quiet by 7 or so. we
slept & left there at 10pm..14hr sail to mona island...very calm "almost all the way tons of dolphins greeted us as the wind picked up to 30 knots man im glad we were on our way
in!anchored had happy hr invited Bruce VanSant & Rosa(author of our cruise book N calls his bible)they left samana same time & are here at Mona w/us It has hiking trails so a hiking
we will go NOT!! a US tourist is lost here he has been gone 3days so we are not allowed to do much just one trail leads to beach & back around. figures an American would mess it up!
saw a few cool caves& nice beach. snorkeled around the boat & watched an octopus doing his camouflage thing way cool.. N of course had to harass it so we could see all the ink! so
like always we are having an adventure & loving it... Can you believe its 6 months on water N hasnt"accidentally " fallen off the boat boy I love my rum HA!!! Next stop coast of P.Rico!!

Well we are still in Luperon. waiting for a window..(weather) took mr to snorkel at the beach really off the rocks he swears he saw Dori(from finding nemo movie) he did a great job. today
I tossed him a gua gua (bus)really a beat up big car, to volunteer in a sm POOR village a few "cruisers"and a group of boyscouts are building a house & repair some . mr painted all day
ran around bringing wood to others up on a hill. he saw 1st hand homes w/dirt floor no water/bathrooms etc. he was great & really worked! wanting to share even.. stopped at steves"bar
restuarant laundry place. mr's favorite stop he plays pool but today he hung on the street in front w/ all the local kids & played stick ball. it so fun he just hangs out like he belongs.. one
kid is mute &he & mr get along fantastic they played all eve. poor kid has major rash on pits/& croch! from sweating all day.. so far so good w/o a tv or video game ha who would of

Hey well I'm back "MR" (jarrid g.kid) & I flew into Puerta Plata no problem N met us w/ friends Robert & Beate (from Umiak)our rental car a beat up 88 camery wagon was waiting. An hr drive
to Luperon where the boat is /next day 8hr rd trip planned to Santa Domingo/ found one of the many waterfalls we hunted, the 5 or so swinging bridges were a hit not like the states
w/fences,oh no just missing planks & all & ya know I loved it YIKES. back in L. Spending our time here hitting the local hang outs. Steves place where N & R just barley beat Mr & his new
friend a deaf/mute young man at pool. several x's the kids scratch (yea that's how N&R win) & they take it!!The marina is another highlight here mr plays the ring on the hook game,
Unfortunately (for N not us) G,pa's head happened to be in the way while the metal ring was in full swing. & ya know R.B& I laughed so hard tears were flyin. the only thing better would have
been a nice circle on that bald head HA!!the water here is not the type ya jump into so we took the dinghy out mr.N.R& I jumped over & snorkeled mr swears he saw Dori (from finding
nemo) thing are going well when mr starts to yelp I grab him & a hand full of SEA Urchins!! yea I know 18yrs of diving but hey it was a kid yelling. his fin fell BFD !!ok back to the boat to pull
stuff out of my hand!!hey man its not all fun mr& I volunteered to go to a village to wk. on a gra gra (old bus)to a village no water/electric VERY rural.. mr paints all day I help dig the footers
for a house but I had a bonus!donny local a)wants to marry me b) will just come work for me c) will just love today if Ill go behind the shed!! hummm he really could swing a mean machete.
it was good to speak spanish & get involved in some help projects.N baked bread all day which smelled & tasted great when we got back.Even here we have gossip there is a russian boat
which everyone(cruisers staying here) swears is exporting illegal things like PEOPLE! the rumor has it full dinghys lv the marina & come back empty.. they were anchored near us but I think
they spied N spying on them w/binos!! they moved!ok now on to SUPER COCK well we are in the D.R. right? there are cock fights & a cruiser bought a cock from a local to enter in the
fights. they made this thing a cape with flashing lights & a big S.C.on it& all the gringos (not us) went to bet on this gringo super cock . someone even printed out a recipe for Cou Au Van in
case the cock lost .well it kicked butt!!!so now the locals know all the cruisers are LOCO!!! mr has been climping on everything on the boat today he made it up a 15ft pole shimming all the

south coast (4hrs) but we took 8 looking for waterfalls & traveling up into the mts. very cool mr was amazed he could get wet & muddy. stayed the night in santa domingo( friends of R&B live there)
headed back the next day. mr went snorkeling today saw a few fish but though it was cool we took the dinghy out dropped anchor & flopped over, he is the official dinghy driver too, he really does better
than I do ha! he will be heading up the mast today later when wind is calmer. we have a chair & harness shell ILL send pics..so far so good he just jumps all over & hangs on stuff... thanks everyone

Mike and Ron arrived in Provodenciales in the Turks and Caicos on 6/19 and we got lucky and had a perfect weather window the next day to take off. We sailed out of Provo at 6am with our friends Robert and Beatta on Umiak and
crossed the Caicos Banks which is an extended area of shallow water(we went for 10 hours without getting deeper than 14 feet). We motorsailed the whole way due to the light winds, which were almost dead ahead. Caught 12
barracuda and one yellow tail snapper en route, keeping 2 of the smaller ones to eat. We got tired of pulling them in. Pulled into Ambergris Cay, anchored and went snorkeling. Saw a good size shark, a turtle and lots of reef fish.
Stuffed ourselves on blackened grilled fish that night. Did some night fishing from the boat and hooked a LARGE shark. We kept it on the line for 10 minutes then it broke away. Decided not to take an evening dip in the ocean.
Left next morning at 10am (waited for the sun to be high in the sky so we could see the coral heads in the water). Arrived Big Sand Cay in the afternoon. Gorgeous place, perfect sand island, nice anchorage, went snorkeling again,
hiked on the island, ate fish. Left the next afternoon for a 90 miles passage to the Dominican Republic. Just at dusk, we hooked a big fish, the line buzzed out of the reel and I picked up the rod. It was the toughest fight I have had yet.
It was a 35lb big eye tuna. Boy can they fight. Got it to the back of the boat(it was dark now) Ron was on the transom steps with the gaff and reached out and got it. Great gaffing. We cut his head off and dragged it behind the boat to
get the blood out. Then filleted it into probably 18lb of prime tuna steak. We ate lots of sashimi and loved it. Mike did a great job slowing the boat while this episode was going on. We ate grilled marinated tuna steaks for a couple
days.

cleaning the boat, getting it ready for Ms Martin-Farley's inspection in a couple days. Current Latitude 19' 54" Longitude 70'56".
